  • If you have an alarm,
    set it every time you
    leave.
  • Make sure alarm batteries
    are working and your security system is maintained.
  • Close and lock all doors and windows when away.
  • Make sure all exterior lighting is working.
  • Tear-down boxes from purchases before placing them at the curb.
  • If traveling, make sure to stop mail and paper deliveries or have a neighbor collect them
 
  • Retrain or refresh all employees on alarm usage, safety and security policies.

  • Notify store security or police if you see anyone hanging around a parking lot or garage.
 
  • Be aware of your surroundings and look around before getting in or out of your car.
  • Ask store security to escort you to your car if you feel uncomfortable.
  • Shop early and leave early.
  • Teach children to go to a
    security officer or store clerk
    if you get separated.
